Road Warrior: See WCW Superstars Shoot Hoops For Charity
By Ross Forman
Riverdale, Ga. - Mark Jindrak got game.
Kwee-Wee got guts.
The two young WCW superstars appeared in suburban Atlanta Saturday evening, playing in
a charity basketball game to benefit Athletes in Motion, an organization that gives
scholarships to student-athletes.
Playing on a team of fellow athletes, Jindrak stole the show, scoring his team's first six points
en route to a game-high 38-point, 22-rebound evening. Meanwhile, Kwee-Wee got five
points, two rebounds and "various steals," he claimed. Kwee-Wee also nailed a 3-pointer,
the first shot he attempted. And during warmups, Kwee-Wee actually wore his pink outfit
over his uniform; during the game, he wore knee-high orange socks.
Despite the efforts of WCW's superstars, their opposition -- a group of local and national musicians, including members of the rap
group Deep South -- triumphed, 90-86.
"I was honored to help such a worthy cause. Just being a part of such an enjoyable evening was fun," Kwee-Wee said. "I want to
thank all the Kwee-Wee fans who attended, especially those who chanted 'Kwee-Wee' during the introductions and then again
after great plays."
During a halftime 3-point shooting contest, Kwee-Wee surprisingly nailed one of four, while Jindrak was unsuccessful in four tries.
But Jindrak delivered when it really mattered -- he slammed several times during the game, each time causing an almost riotous
response from the thousands in attendance.
Also playing: Atlanta Braves superstar Brian Jordan, 1989 National League Rookie of the Year Jerome Walton (Chicago Cubs)
and former football sensation Billy "White Shoes" Johnson (Houston Oilers), among others. Daryl Boston, a former slugger for the
Chicago White Sox, coached Jindrak and Kwee-Wee's team.
